Meet Our In-House Architect, Dan Prize
At Liston Design Build, we believe exceptional remodeling begins with a collaborative team and a shared vision. That’s why we’re proud to have Dan Prize, a registered architect, as part of our in-house team. His expertise enhances our design-build process, bringing architectural insight, technical precision, and creative problem-solving to every project.
By working alongside our designers and production professionals every day, Dan helps create a seamless connection between architecture, interior design, and construction—ultimately delivering a better experience and better results for our clients.
A Unique Blend of Design and Real-World Experience
Dan brings a rare combination of architectural training and hands-on construction experience. His days are spent visiting job sites, taking measurements, and developing schematic and conceptual designs that transform ideas into thoughtfully executed plans. As a skilled draftsman and problem-solver, Dan leads our larger architectural projects, ensuring every detail aligns with both the homeowner’s vision and the realities of construction.
Originally from O’Fallon, Missouri, Dan’s passion for architecture began early while working alongside his father in construction. After studying in seminary, he earned his graduate degree in architecture from the University of Notre Dame in 2020 and went on to work in South Carolina as both a designer and builder, gaining valuable experience that allows him to bridge the gap between design intent and construction execution.
The Design-Build Advantage: Why Having an Architect on Staff Matters
While many remodeling companies rely on outside architects or separate design teams, having an architect integrated into the design-build process is far less common—and incredibly valuable. Industry-wide, most residential remodeling firms operate without a licensed architect on staff, instead outsourcing that role when needed. At Liston Design Build, our integrated approach is different, architecture, design and construction expertise are working together from the initial meeting with the homeowners. Our team collaborates daily, sharing ideas, solving challenges and refining solutions in real time.
For homeowners, this means:
- Architectural, design, and construction expertise working together from day one
- Better communication throughout every phase of the project
- Faster decision-making with fewer handoffs between teams
- Earlier identification of opportunities and potential challenges
- Designs that balance aesthetics, functionality, budget, and constructability
- Stronger design cohesion from concept through completion
- Creative problem-solving grounded in both design vision and building realities
- One coordinated team guiding the project from initial concept through final completion
Our on-staff architect collaborates closely with our designers and production team every day ensuring there is no disconnect between what is envisioned, what is designed and ultimately what is built. This level of teamwork helps processes move forward more efficiently while ensuring every decision supports the overall vision of the home and the homeowner.
Designing Spaces That Truly Reflect You
What truly sets Dan apart is his ability to notice the details others might miss. He describes this as a kind of “hypersensitivity” to how people interact with their spaces, an awareness that allows him to design home renovations that feel both intuitive and deeply personal.
Whether he’s developing a new floor plan, reimagining a home’s flow, or refining architectural details, Dan focuses on creating spaces that enhance the way the homeowner lives every day
His proudest accomplishment – building his parents home alongside his brothers – reflects the heart behind his work. It’s a reminder that great design isn’t simply about creating beautiful spaces; its about creating homes that reflect the lifestyle of the people who live in them.
A Stronger Team, A Better Experience
